An outdoor birthday party in the Dubai desert

Bring the whole family to a desert camp for one evening: a birthday, a reunion, a graduation, or the cousins who have flown in for two weeks. Whoever wants the dune drive goes, whoever does not stays at the table. We pick everyone up from their hotel or home and bring them back.

What it is

What an outdoor birthday party in the desert actually is

No hall, no play centre, no minimum spend on decorations.
The place
A camp evening in the red dunes at Lahbab, about 50 minutes from central Dubai on the Dubai to Hatta road. We collect your family from their hotels and homes, drive out in air conditioned 4x4s, and you have the evening together.
Three generations, one evening
The teenagers take the dune drive. The grandparents do not have to get in a dune car at all. Babies and small children are welcome and child seats are free, so tell us the ages when you enquire.
No venue hire
There is no venue hire, no minimum spend and no service charge added at the camp. You pay per guest, and that figure already covers the vehicles, the drive, the camp, the seating and a halal dinner.
One written quote
It is an enquiry, not a checkout. Tell us the date, how many of you there are and the ages, and we send one written quote with the pickup plan and the menu on it. You pay in AED once you are happy with it.

Birthday party packages

Three ways to do it

Pick the one closest to your family and we adjust it in the quote.
  • Open buffet stations and cushioned majlis benches set for a large group at a desert venue after dark

    Everyone together

    The camp evening

    From ≈ $ 51 per guest

The one most families book. Afternoon pickup, a dune drive for whoever wants it, the sunset photo stop, and a seated dinner at the camp with live music in the background.

    • Dune drive, sandboarding and a camel ride at the camp
    • Halal buffet dinner, soft drinks and tea
    • Photo stop on the dune ridge at sunset
    • Back at your hotel by about 9:30 PM
  • A shaded seating area with cushioned white benches, rattan armchairs and low woven tables, looking out across the sand to long set dining tables

    Mixed ages

    The gentle evening

    Quoted on your numbers

No dune bashing at all. The 4x4 takes the graded track to the camp, so grandparents, pregnant guests and anyone who should not be shaken come to exactly the same evening.

    • Camp evening with no dune drive
    • Table service rather than a buffet queue
    • Desert photoshoot included
    • Suits pregnant guests and senior citizens
  • A long table laid with white linen, glass lamps and rattan chairs on the sand, lit by festoon lights at blue hour

    Your family only

    The private camp table

    Quoted on your numbers

Your own 4x4s and your own table. You set the pace, you choose the pickup order, and nobody else is seated with you. Ask for this one if the party is a milestone.

    • Private 4x4s, your family only
    • Your own table at the camp, set for your group
    • You set the drive pace, gentle or quick
    • Cake, decorations and a longer evening on request

Every figure above is a starting point. We quote on your numbers, your date and what you want the night to include, and the quote is the price.

Get together with family in the desert

How one evening holds three generations

The question every family asks us first: what do the grandparents do while the teenagers are on the dunes?
  1. You send the enquiry

Tell us the date, how many of you there are and the youngest and oldest ages. That last answer is the one that decides gentle or standard.

A desert camp seen from a dune at sunset, with open-sided pavilions, a swing frame and hanging lantern cages on the sand
  2. We send one quote

One written quote, with the pickup plan and the menu on it, and every extra on its own line so you can take any of them off. No deposit before you have read it.

  3. We collect everyone

Afternoon pickup from hotels and homes across Dubai and Sharjah, several addresses on one booking, in the order you want. Child seats are free, so tell us how many you need.

A driver holding the rear door of a white 4x4 open at a hotel entrance in Dubai
  4. The dunes, or the graded track

Whoever wants the dune drive goes, about 40 minutes of it. Anyone who should not be shaken travels straight to the camp on the graded track and has tea before the dune cars get back.

A row of white shade sails over low seating and chairs on the sand, with a dune ridge and clear blue sky behind
  5. The camp, then dinner

Sandboarding, a camel ride, the photo stop on the ridge while the light is still gold, then a seated halal dinner with live music in the background.

A long dressed table with cane chairs beside a lit lantern sculpture at sunset, fairy lights strung overhead and the camp glowing behind
  6. The cake, then home

Bring your own cake and we carry it out and hand it to you when you ask, which works better after dinner than during the dune drive. Back at your hotel by about 9:30 PM.

Shade canopies hung with warm festoon lights over sofas and low tables on carpets, candle lanterns across the sand after dark

Before you ask

Questions we get asked

How much does an outdoor birthday party in the Dubai desert cost?
The camp evening is priced per guest in AED, with hotel or home pickup in Dubai and Sharjah already included, and the per guest figure on the camp evening package is the starting point. The gentle format with no dune drive and the private camp table cost more and are quoted on your numbers, because the price depends on how many of you there are, how many pickup points we drive to and which extras you add. You get one written quote with every line on it before you pay anything.
Can grandparents and small children come on the same trip?
Yes, and most of our family bookings are exactly that. Anyone who should not be shaken does not have to get in a dune car: they either travel to the camp on the graded track while the rest of the family takes the dunes, or the whole family books the format with no dune drive and stays together the entire evening. Everyone eats at the same table either way.
Can we bring a toddler or a baby, and do you have car seats?
Yes. Child seats are free, so tell us how many you need and the ages of the children when you enquire and they will be in the vehicles on the day. If the youngest cannot be out until half past nine, ask about a morning trip instead: it leaves early, there is breakfast at the camp rather than dinner, and you are home by lunchtime.
Can we ask for a gentle drive instead of dune bashing?
Yes, in two ways. On a private booking write "gentle drive" in your enquiry and your driver keeps to the lower dunes and the long lines, and will stop whenever you ask. If you would rather skip the dunes altogether, we sell two camp evenings with no dune drive at all, which also suit pregnant guests and senior citizens. On a shared vehicle we cannot promise a gentle drive, because the car is not only yours.
Is the food halal, and can you do vegetarian or Jain plates?
The food at every camp is halal as standard. Vegetarian plates are straightforward and Jain plates need the kitchen told in advance, so give us the numbers at least 48 hours before the date and we confirm the menu in writing before you pay. Tell us about allergies at the same time, and if the kitchen cannot keep something separate we will say so rather than guess.
Can we have a birthday with no alcohol at all?
Yes. No package includes alcohol and guests cannot bring their own. Some camps have a bar where adults can buy their own drinks, so if you want an evening where nobody in your party is near a bar, ask for the desert dinner in Sharjah. Sharjah does not permit alcohol, so that camp has no bar.
Can we bring a cake, and will someone bring it out?
Yes. Bring your cake with you and we will carry it out to the table and hand it to you when you ask for it. Tell us roughly when you want that to happen, because the camp evening has a shape to it and the moment works better after dinner than during the dune drive.
How many guests can you take, and when does it become a group booking?
Up to 500 guests, with six guests to a 4x4. From 10 guests we move the booking into our group flow so the vehicles, the seating and the single quote are handled together, and we do that step for you from your enquiry. For anything larger, message us on WhatsApp and we will plan it by hand.
