The cover story
We agree it with you, in writing. Most people book a sunset safari or a dinner, and that is exactly what their partner thinks is happening. Your driver is told the same story and sticks to it.
The drive
The turn off the main road is normal. Every safari leaves the Hatta Road and drives onto sand, so a 4x4 heading into the dunes is what a sunset safari looks like. If your partner asks, the driver says the camp is further in.
Messages
We message only the number you tell us to, at the times you tell us to. If a shared phone or a shared inbox is a problem, say so in the enquiry and we will use the other channel only.
The reveal
You see it before they do. We send you one photograph of the finished setup while you are still in the car, so you are not walking up a dune hoping.

Step by step

How a desert proposal actually runs

Five steps, start to finish. The only part you have to get right is the question.

  1. We agree the plan

    Three to four weeks before. You tell us the date, the two of you or a group, and what you want on the dune. We send one written quote with everything in it.

  2. We confirm the details

    The week before. We fix the pickup time, the cover story and the exact minute of the question, then we stop messaging you unless you ask us to.

  3. We build it

    Two to three hours before. Our team drives out, builds the setup, lights it and sends you one photograph of it finished, so you know before you leave the hotel.

  4. We collect you

    At pickup. Your driver knows the plan and the cover story. Free pickup from your hotel or home anywhere in Dubai or Sharjah.

  5. You ask

    On the dune. The photographer is already in position. After the yes, the evening is yours for as long as you booked it. Nothing on this list is your job on the day: you get in the car with the ring, and we handle the rest.

Practical

Dates, numbers and what to bring

The practical answers, in one place.
Group size
Two guests upward. A 4x4 seats six, so a seventh guest needs a second vehicle. We handle groups up to 500.
Winter timings
October to April: pickup between 2:30 and 3:30 PM for a sunset setup. The question lands between 5:15 and 6:00 PM depending on the month.
Summer timings
May to September: pickup from 5:30 PM. The question lands after 7:00 PM, when the sand has cooled.
How long
Four to five hours door to door for a private setup with dinner. About three hours for the question inside a camp evening without dinner, and six hours or more for a camp evening of your own.
Booking ahead
Three to four weeks is comfortable and two weeks works. We will tell you straight away if your date is too tight to do properly.
What you bring
The ring, closed shoes you do not mind filling with sand, a layer for after dark in winter, and the words.

How much does a marriage proposal in Dubai cost?
A marriage proposal in the Dubai desert starts with us at the price of one VIP dinner safari seat, which is the evening you ask the question inside. A private setup on your own dune is quoted on your plan, because the cost moves with the date, the number of guests, the setup and whether dinner and film are in it. We send one written quote with everything in it and no line added later.
Is it OK to propose in Dubai?
Yes. Proposing in Dubai is completely normal and thousands of people do it every year. Dubai does have public-conduct expectations, which is one good reason to do it on a private dune rather than in a crowded public place: you are not managing an audience or anybody else's opinion. Every site we use is arranged in advance for your evening.
Where is the best place to propose in the desert near Dubai?
The red dunes at Lahbab, off the Dubai to Hatta Road, about 50 minutes from central Dubai. The sand there is the deep orange red that photographs well, the dune ridges give you a clean horizon with nothing man-made in the frame, and it is close enough that you are back in the city the same evening. We pick the exact dune for your date based on where the light falls and where nobody else will be.
How do you keep it a surprise when we are travelling together?
We agree a cover story with you in writing and your driver is told the same one. Most people book it as a sunset safari or a desert dinner, which is exactly what their partner experiences until the moment. We message only the number you nominate, at the hours you nominate, and if a shared phone or inbox is a risk, say so in the enquiry and we will use one channel only.
Are photographs included, and when do we get them?
Yes. A photographer is included on the private setups and on the camp evening, and the camp photoshoot is already in the VIP dinner safari price. They are in position before you walk up, so you get the question itself and the reaction. Edited photographs follow as a download link, and the turnaround is confirmed in writing with your quote. Film is an add-on and is quoted with the rest.
Will the setup be finished before we arrive?
Yes, and you will see it first. Our team drives out two to three hours ahead, builds the setup, lights it, and sends you one photograph of it finished while you are still in the car. If anything is not right, we fix it before you get there rather than after.
What should we do with the ring?
Keep the ring on you, in a zipped pocket, and tell your driver it is there so nobody moves your bag. Sand gets into everything and the back seat of a 4x4 is the worst place for a ring box. We will not carry it for you. It stays yours until the moment, and the driver's job is simply to know it exists.
Is the desert setup private, or are other people around?
A private setup is genuinely private. We take a dune well away from any working camp, so there is no drumming, no other group's headlights and nobody walking through your photographs. The only people there are the two of you, your driver and the photographer. The camp evening option is different and we say so plainly: the camp is shared with other guests, though your table is set apart.
