Location
The red dunes on this safari are in the Lahbab desert, a rural area of Dubai off the Dubai-Hatta Road (E44). A #DubaiDestinations article from Dubai Media puts Lahbab around 50 minutes from the city centre, though your drive depends on your pickup address and the traffic. Official Dubai sources also spell the name Lehbab.
Lahbab is known for its red sand, but it isn't the only part of Dubai's desert with red dunes. Sand like this usually gets its colour from a thin coating of iron oxide on each grain, the US Geological Survey explains. The shade changes with the light during the day.
Lahbab is a place name. Dubai Desert King runs this safari, and we aren't connected to any business that uses Lahbab in its name.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the start and you get a full refund, back on your card in 5 to 7 working days. After that, or if you don't show up, there's no refund. If the weather turns bad, we offer you a new date.
It's a hard, jolting ride, and the 4x4 tilts steeply on the slopes. On this safari it also lasts longer than on our evening one. Everyone wears a seatbelt, and the driver does all the driving. It doesn't suit everyone. Skip it if you're pregnant, have back or neck problems, have had recent surgery or get motion sick. If you're bringing a baby or toddler, or have any other health worry, tell us before you book, and we'll check whether a gentler drive or another safari suits you. Two of our trips, the VIP dinner and dinner in the desert, leave dune bashing out.
Both pick you up at about 3 PM and drive the same Lahbab dunes. The Lahbab safari gives you longer dune bashing, with no camp, dinner or shows, from AED 189. The evening safari keeps the dune bashing shorter, then goes to a camp for a BBQ dinner and five live shows. If the dunes are the point of your trip, pick Lahbab.
It's on your booking. Your confirmation lists the trip as the Lahbab red-dune safari, and the dune bashing and sandboarding happen in Lahbab. If the place is why you're booking, check that line, and message us on WhatsApp if anything looks wrong.
No. Al Qudra is another part of Dubai's desert, known for its man-made lakes, and this safari doesn't go there. We don't promise a stop at Big Red either. The driver picks the route on the day to suit the group and the sand.
Yes. A private 4x4 for up to six guests is from AED 500, and the car and driver are yours alone. Choose Private 4x4 when you book. On the shared 4x4 you ride with other guests, up to six to a car.
Pickup starts at 3 PM from hotels and homes anywhere in Dubai or Sharjah, and you're back around 9 PM. Your confirmation gives the window for your address. You reach the dunes at about 4 PM, and sunset in Dubai falls between about 5:30 PM in November and 7:11 PM in July, so the sun goes down while you're still out on the sand.
There's no camp, dinner or shows. The Lahbab safari lasts about six hours and the evening safari about six and a half. The evening one spends part of that at a camp for dinner and shows, while the Lahbab safari keeps you on the dunes longer. A private 4x4 costs less too.
N° 06 · Alternatives
The evening safari adds a camp dinner and shows, and the private safari ends with dinner at a premium camp. Or ride a quad bike yourself.
