Which desert safari in Dubai
should you book?
Each safari is a different desert experience in Dubai, and the time of day is the easiest way to choose. Mornings are short, and you're back by midday. Evenings run longer and finish with dinner at camp. For your own 4x4 and a premium camp dinner, book the private safari. If you only want the red sand, the Lahbab safari skips dinner.

What is a Dubai desert safari?
A Dubai desert safari is a trip to the dunes by 4x4.
On our evening safari we collect you from your hotel or home around 3 PM and drive about 50 minutes to the red dunes at Lahbab. You go dune bashing and sandboarding, then ride a camel and have a BBQ dinner at camp during the live shows. You're back around 9:30 PM. You book with us directly, and we're licensed by DET.

If your plans change
Cancel a day trip at least 24 hours before it starts and you get a full refund. The overnight stay needs 14 days' notice, because the retreat charges for the room. If an option has stricter terms, you see them before paying.

Yes, if you want to see the dunes up close. Visit Dubai, the city's official tourism site, tells visitors to book with a reputable tour company and never drive into the desert alone, so a safari is the sensible way to go. If dinner and shows don't appeal, the Lahbab safari leaves them out.
How long does a desert safari take?
Most take half a day. Mornings are about four hours, back by midday. VIP dinner and dinner in the desert run about five. The evening safari takes about six and a half, with a 3 PM pickup and a 9:30 PM return. The overnight trip is 24 hours, with a night at a retreat.
Which desert do Dubai safaris go to?
Our morning, evening, private and Lahbab safaris, and the buggy and quad rides, all head to Lahbab, a desert area of Dubai known for its red sand, off the Dubai-Hatta Road about 50 minutes from the city centre. The colour comes from iron oxide coating the grains. Two trips go elsewhere: dinner in the desert is at a camp in the Sharjah desert, and the overnight trip drives the Sharjah dunes, with a night at a resort there or on the Kalba coast.
Is a desert safari safe?
Book with a licensed company and tell us about any health worries before you pay. Dune bashing is rough by design, so skip it if you're pregnant, have back or neck problems, have had recent surgery or get motion sick. VIP dinner and dinner in the desert have no dune bashing at all, so they suit anyone who'd rather sit it out.
When is the best time of year for a desert safari?
The cooler months, roughly November to March, are the most comfortable. Visit Dubai puts January, the coolest month, at an average of 21°C. The desert cools fast after sunset, so bring a layer in the evening. Safaris still run in summer, with seasonal pickup times.
Do I need my hotel address to book?
No. Book the safari and the date now, and add the pickup address afterwards on your booking page. Your confirmation shows the pickup window.
